Presented in a high-quality digipack, the CD album contains a bonus track not available for download. Alternatively, go to our shop page and buy it directly from us.

Kaya @ Liverpool Sound City 2009

Kaya will be playing at the Liverpool Sound City 2009 Festival on Saturday 23rd May at the rather luxurious Studio 2 in Parr Street, Liverpool, L1 4JN. It will be a full-band performance, supporting Foy Vance. Kaya will be on at about 8pm.

Kaya to release ‘Balloon in a Cactus Field’

Kaya’s debut album ‘Balloon in a Cactus Field’ will be released on 24th November 2008. It will be available from all good download stores and by mail order through the Ultimate Fake Records shop. The CD version includes the bonus a capella track ‘Drinking Game’. Fans of Kaya’s quirky yet no-nonsense style will appreciate the quality of her perfomance and the depth of her insight.

The album will be officially launched at 7pm on Thursday 20th November at the Novas CUC in Liverpool, as part of the Nordic International Cultural Event (NICE08).

For those who can’t wait that long, there are still a few copies of Kaya’s debut single ‘Meat Market Special’ available to mail order from our shop page, or you can watch the video on YouTube.

Until the 24th November you can pre-order the CD album for the incredible price of only £5 plus p&p, a saving of £1.99.

Kaya has recently supported Noah and the Whale as part of Liverpool Music Week 2008, and will be appearing at the Liverpool Carling Academy on Saturday 29th November.

The Prelude release download-only single

The Prelude follow their critically acclaimed album ‘Moving To The Country - Never Coming Back’ (released June 30th) with the release of a download-only single featuring the album track ‘No Sleep For The Rain’ as well as fan favourite ‘86 Blues’. The release also includes a live version of album track “By The Holy Well”, featuring artwork by bass player Ryan Wyatt.

All this follows a busy year of over 100 live dates. The Prelude’s excellent ‘Go Folk Yourself’ appears on the compilation CD ‘Liverpool Music Today’, and as an individual download, currently available from the Ultimate Fake Records shop.

The single ‘Superlambanana’ by Mark Jones is released on 13th October. It will be available from all good download stores, and as a strictly limited edition CD single from the Ultimate Fake shop page. The single features the B-side ‘Life’s Alright’, which currently appears on the compilation album ‘Liverpool Music Today’. See below for a sneak preview of the track, which includes unique footage of a whole flock of superlambananas.

Kate sings for Zöe’s Place

On 15th September 2008 singer Kate Liddell will release her debut single on Ultimate Fake Records. Entitled “Are You Happy Now?”, the track will be available only through download stores, including iTunes, OD2 and Emusic. Kate was discovered by Francis McEntegart of Chime Management during a talent show arranged by Kate’s employer, Alliance and Leicester, and has chosen to donate her royalties from the sale of the single to the bank’s chosen charity for 2008, Zöe’s Place. Zöe’s Place offers palliative respite and terminal care for children up to the age of 5 years with complex and life limiting illnesses. We wish Kate the very best of luck with her first release.

Mark Jones sings Superlambanana live on TV!

Did anyone catch Mark Jones on ITV last night? There he was on Granada Reports singing his song of adoration for the Liverpool attraction known as the Superlambanana. Performing as his alter ego (Walter Wall), Mark gave a brilliant rendition of the track we’ll be releasing on 13th October 2008. If you can’t wait that long, check out his live solo performance of ‘Superlambanana’ on YouTube!
